Since the debut EP French Pop Radio Show, which was inspired by the greats of Gallic pop (Serge Gainsbourg, Françoise Hardy etc), Who Shot Liberty? have both dabbled in disco and released the spiky new wave anthem Soundtrack Of Our Lives, which in dayglo coloured vinyl form accompanied the publication of the 2024 pop memoir Whatever Happened To The Teenage Dream?, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1068530812
Now drops Wolf From The Door, a decidedly cool, laid-back groove
with a breezy West Coast feel reminiscent of Steely Dan or The Doobie Brothers with lyrics that point the finger at false prophets and the quick fix culture.
Recorded earlier this year at The Walrus Studio in south London, the track features indie folk producer Joshua Taylor on drums and the New York-based jazz pianist Pier Luigi Salami (PLS.trio).
Who Shot Liberty? is the brainchild of London-based songwriter and
composer Dan Synge who also plays guitar in the revived 80’s group
Daniel Takes A Train. The band recently celebrated a Heritage Chart UK
number one with the song Just Like Patsy Cline.
He explains: “It’s a wonderful feeling to hit the top spot after years of
trying. But this solo project, which has led to collaborations with musicians
from all over the globe, has allowed me to express a once secret crush on
Euro synth pop, soft rock and Latin jazz. My guilty pleasures are out!”
In these dangerous and uncertain times, why not follow the example of
The Three Little Pigs and other cautionary tales and keep the Wolf From The
Door?
